CharlotteSportsPhoto > What are the shots in Favorite Shots?

These are images taken, that are some personal favorites, during some of my Freelance work. While generally from professional sports, some are from youth or collegiate events I have covered. These images are not available to purchase or download.

Why are there blue lines around the pictures in my shopping cart?

The blue lines are cropping lines. These are only really used for larger prints and are not a concern for 4 x 6 prints.

If you are ordering a larger print, look at the cropping lines to make sure you like it. You can easily change the cropping by clicking on the "adjust" box in the shopping cart, or you may change the box that says "Crop" to "no-crop". This will fit the entire image on the print size you select. If this is still not what you are looking for, email me with the file name, gallery, and size you would like and I will upload an image that will work perfectly for you.
CharlotteSportsPhoto > What does "True" color mean when I look in my shopping cart and why do I want that?

There are two options provided for color selection of your prints. True color is the color and tone I upload. Auto color is applied by the lab when the prints are created. That means that the colors could shift from those I created. I recommend the use of True.

How can I find the Photo Gifts?

While in your shopping cart, you will see a small white box labeled "Standard Prints" and a down arrow to the right of this phrase. Clicking on the arrow will show a menu of choices. Select Photo Gifts to find an array of additional items from mousepads, coffee cups, T-shirts, sweat shirts, and even ceramic tiles.
CharlotteSportsPhoto > How can I get you to come to our next game?

I require a minimum event fee to photograph an event. Images from the event are then discounted from my normal web pricing. To ensure shots of your son or daughter, you can also hire me to shoot an event. This arrangement ensures a wide variety of images to choose from, discounted pricing, and a DVD slideshow.

Are you available to photograph things other than sports?

In addition to sports photography, I also provide: Bridal and Engagement portraits, Family Portraits, coverage of Parties and Corporate events, Corporate portraits, and product shots for advertising, Web Sites, or Ebay (show your items to their greatest potential!). I have an inventory of professional lighting equipment and post processing capabilities which can meet almost any photographic need you have have.

Samples can be found under the Sample Work section of the About This Site gallery. For additional information and rate quotes please contact me.
CharlotteSportsPhoto > Do you do Team pictures?

Yes. I do team pictures as well as individual pictures. I do this for Leagues and for Leagues without this service, I can do a specific team and/or individuals - with the League's permission of course. Please contact me for details and/or samples of my work.

What if I still want an image from a gallery that is no longer available?

Email me the date and time of the game, and the age of your player and I will attempt to repost the image for you.

How do I get my son or daughter's photo featured on your site?

Contact me with the gallery and file name so I can review it! If the image will be used in areas like the FAQ section, print samples at an event, or the images along the top of my site, I will only use it when I have a signed "model release" by the parent or player.

In addition, the shot needs to include great action, good lighting, a clear face, and the ball in the frame. If a shot of your child meets these criteria and you are willing to sign a "model release", please let me know. For great shots with a signed parental release, I will provide a complimentary 8x10 image printed on luster paper. There are, however, a limited number of shots eligible each year for this offer, so don't delay!
CharlotteSportsPhoto > What sports will you do?

I have shot soccer, lacrosse, football, basketball, softball, field hockey, golf, swimming, cross country, tennis, and volleyball from youth sports to professional teams. I will cover virtually any sporting event!

What other services do you offer?

I can extract players or people from the photos (see poster samples under Providence Day School), add any kind of text to a photo, merge multiple images into a single image, scan and repair old photos, color correct digital images, produce large prints from your digital images, eliminate "digital noise" in your files, and produce high quality digital files for you.

I scan old slides, prints, or negatives (all sizes, from 35mm to medium format) to produce high quality digital files.

I can take your images in slide, print, or digital formats and/or video clips and create highly customized DVD's or PC slide shows.

Please contact me for quotes on these services.

Why don't you offer volume discounts?

While I would like to offer volume discounting on larger orders, Smumug does not provide that feature at this time. I have asked them for this feature and they indicate that while they are working on it, they have no firm date for delivery. As quickly as they provide it, I will provide it on all of my galleries. While I wait for this feature, I now offer volume based incentives. Purchase at certain levels and receive additional prints at no cost. See the Latest News gallery under "About this Site" for more information.
CharlotteSportsPhoto > I want to order a poster size print. Why do I have to let you know first and why can't I see that on the shopping cart?

The images I upload are sized to provide great prints for the sizes listed. I can provide prints up to 30" x 40" and sizes in between. However, to ensure a high quality image, I will need to upload a much higher resolution file.

Will you sell a digital copy of an image?

Yes. All images I create are protected by copyright, however, I can and do license images for specific uses, like home prints. Please see the bottom of the price list (visible by adding an item to cart) and you will see pricing for digital downloads.
CharlotteSportsPhoto > What is that thing you shoot with?

I commonly refer to it as a large point and shoot camera. In reality, the camera bodies are Canon 1D Mk II's, digital SLRs that produce an 8.2 megapixel image. It is has one of the quickest auto focus systems on the market today and has none of the “lag” associated with a lot of digital cameras today. While capable of shooting a sustained 8.5 frames per second, I rarely use that capability. I prefer to time the shots to capture action.

I use two long lenses: for smaller fields I use a Canon L series 300mm, F 2.8. For longer fields, I will use a Canon L series 400mm, F 2.8. The reason for the size (and cost) of these lenses is the ability to shoot in low light situations and to provide very fast autofocus speeds and great images. The long focal length and large aperture of these lenses also produces that sharp focus on players and nice blurred background. I also use Canon’s 70 – 200 F 2.8, 24 - 70 F 2.8, and 85 F 1.8 lenses.
